A Refinery In Yaroslavl, Russia, Is Engulfed In A Massive Fire Following A Drone Attack

Traffic heading toward Moscow has been blocked.
On the night of September 17, drones launched a massive attack on the Russian city of Yaroslavl. Amid this attack, local authorities were forced to block traffic heading toward Moscow.
A major fire broke out in Yaroslavl’s industrial zone following a series of explosions. This was reported by OSINT channels.
According to analysts, drones may have struck the large “Slavneft-YANOS” oil refinery.
“Defense forces successfully struck the Yaroslavl oil refinery; a massive fire broke out in the industrial zone,” monitoring channels report.
Footage from the scene shows a massive fire in the industrial zone. Thick black smoke has engulfed the city as a result of the UAV attack.
It is worth noting that on the night of September 17, the governor of the Yaroslavl Region Mikhail Evraev warned of a drone threat in the region and reported that a “Ukrainian attack” had been repelled. Authorities were forced to block traffic on the road leading out of Yaroslavl toward Moscow “for security reasons.”
Shortly thereafter, the regional governor confirmed an attack on the oil refinery. According to him, the facility was damaged as a result of the shelling; as of 6:50 a.m., emergency services were working to extinguish a major fire at the site. Yevraev also stated that Russian air defenses allegedly shot down at least 65 drones over the region last night.
What is known about the “Slavneft–YANOS” oil refinery
The “Slavneft–YANOS” oil refinery is one of the largest refineries in Russia, located in the city of Yaroslavl. The facility processes approximately 15 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel and plays a role in supplying the Russian military; in particular, it is a key component of the enemy’s logistics.
As a reminder, also last night drones struck a Russian military airfield in Rostov, resulting in an explosion and a fire.
