The EU Is Allocating 3.3 Billion Euros To Ukraine For Missiles And Drones

The European Union will allocate an additional 3.3 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of missiles and drones. This was stated European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen following a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to her, the funds will be transferred to Ukraine as early as Friday, September 18.

Von der Leyen also announced the preparation of a new program of joint defense projects between the EU and Ukraine. To launch it, the European Union plans to use the remaining funds from the SAFE mechanism. The initiative is intended to combine Ukraine’s combat experience and innovations with Europe’s industrial capabilities.
The politician added that the EU wants to work with Ukraine to develop a European air and missile defense system based on the FREYJA anti-ballistic system.

“Last week, we approved EU funding for Patriot systems as part of our loan to support Ukraine, but it is clear that more is needed,” von der Leyen said.
