The President Of Serbia Will Resign This Evening

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he will resign from his post on Sunday evening.

This was reported by PTC.

Vucic told reporters in New York that he will most likely submit his resignation around 8:00 p.m. (9:00 p.m. Minsk time). He noted that he will explain his decision later.

The previous evening, Vučić posted on Instagram that it was a great honor for him to be the president of Serbia. “Every day, I tried to do everything possible to live up to the trust placed in me and to serve my country faithfully and loyally. Long live Serbia!” Vucic declared.
On September 9, at the Serbian government’s request, Vucic dissolved parliament and scheduled parliamentary elections for October 25.

The Executive Council of the Serbian Progressive Party nominated Vučić as the head of the “United Serbia” electoral list and as a candidate for the office of prime minister.

The early parliamentary elections give Vučić the opportunity to reshape the government before the end of his presidential term and maintain his political influence as prime minister.
