Belgium Is Transferring A Batch Of F-16 Fighter Jets To Ukraine

The aircraft are expected to be delivered under an expedited procedure by the end of the year.

Belgium will transfer three F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by the end of the year. Kyiv is set to receive the aircraft through an expedited process, along with additional capabilities to strengthen its air defense. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his Telegram channel.

According to the head of state, an agreement with the Belgian side has already been reached. Specifically, this involves three fighter jets, which are to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of 2026.

“We have reached an important agreement with Belgium on the transfer of three F-16 fighter jets to us by the end of this year. We will expedite the process of receiving these aircraft,” Zelenskyy said.

Separately, the president reported on ammunition deliveries for these aircraft that have already been made. Not only Belgium but also Spain has joined in providing this support.

“Urgent shipments of ammunition for the F-16s have already been received from Belgium and other countries, in particular Spain,” Zelenskyy noted.

The head of state linked the strengthening of the air force to the need to counter Russian air attacks. He emphasized the need to build up Ukraine’s capability to destroy aerial targets.

“As Russia escalates its aggression on a daily basis, we must expand our capabilities to shoot down aerial targets and protect our people. “I thank Belgium, Prime Minister Bart De Wever, and the entire government for their decisive steps in support of Ukraine in response to Russia’s brutal attacks targeting human life,” Zelenskyy said.
