Khmara Visited Air Force Command Posts In The Kyiv Region

The Ukrainian defense minister announced the strengthening of Kyiv's layered defense.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara visited command posts at Air Force units in the Kyiv region.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported this on social media.

Together with military personnel, Khmara discussed changes in Russian tactics of terror and new challenges, particularly for the Kyiv region. The meeting participants focused on combat operations—detecting and tracking targets, making decisions, and neutralizing aerial threats.

According to the defense minister, the task for the defenders of the skies is clear: to destroy Russian weapons before they reach the capital.

“Together, we determined which approaches need to be changed and how to strengthen Kyiv’s layered defense. Aviation, air defense, and mobile fire groups—all components must adapt their operations to account for the new realities,” Khmara said.

Khmara also spoke with combat pilots and air defense system operators regarding their assessment of the situation, discussing in detail the available forces, resources, and the needs of the units.

Special attention was paid to Shahed-type jet-powered strike drones. According to the minister, such targets are already being shot down, and the task now is to scale up effective technological solutions and provide them to the units.

“We are working on this together with the military, Ukrainian manufacturers, and partners. Our long-range retaliatory strikes are consistently reducing Russia’s ability to wage war. At the same time, we will strengthen the defense of our cities and increase pressure on the enemy’s war machine,” Khmara added.
