Drones Have Reached Bashkortostan: A Petrochemical Plant Is On Fire In Sterlitamak

On the morning of September 4, explosions were heard in the Russian region of Bashkortostan. Following the explosions, a fire broke out in Sterlitamak.

There are reports that the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant was hit. Footage from the scene was compiled by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.

Exilenova+ reported on the attack on Sterlitamak in Bashkortostan (Russian Federation) at around 6 a.m. Minsk time.

Black smoke rose over the city.

“Local residents report that the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant is on fire,” they clarified a few minutes later.

JSC “Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant” (JSC “SNKhZ”) specializes in the production of rubbers, ionol, and aviation gasoline.

The company’s products are crucial for stabilizing fuels, plastics, and rubbers, as well as for meeting the needs of the Russian Federation’s military-industrial complex.

Since January 2023, SNKhZ has been part of the Roskhim Group, the managing organization for a group of major Russian chemical enterprises united in production cooperatives and operating in the petrochemical, soda ash, chlor-alkali, titanium, and agrochemical clusters. The chairman of the group’s board of directors is Igor Rotenberg, the son of Arkady Rotenberg, a close friend and ally of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The plant had previously been attacked. In November 2025 and April 2026, it was attacked by Ukrainian drones: fires and damage were reported in the plant’s workshops.

Meanwhile, the Supernova+ Telegram channel claimed that another facility located in the same city had come under attack.

“The Avangard Federal State Unitary Enterprise has been attacked. Its main activities include the production of explosives, ammunition, and specialized containers as part of the state defense contract,” the message stated.
