Fuel Supply Disruptions Have Begun At Sochi Airport

Sochi Airport is experiencing difficulties with aircraft refueling; airlines are currently forced to use the services of only one fuel supplier. The restrictions were imposed following an overnight drone attack on a local oil depot. This was reported by the Russian media outlet "Verstka".

As stated in the NOTAM aviation notice, refueling at the airport is currently carried out exclusively by “LUKOIL.”

“For technical reasons, refueling at Sochi Airport is carried out only by the fuel operator LUKOIL LLC; airlines must confirm that they have secured refueling services from this operator,” the NOTAM states.

According to available information, the restriction will be in effect for 24 hours—starting today at 1:35 p.m. Moscow time and ending at 1:30 p.m. the following day. This directive replaced a previous one issued earlier that same day, which had imposed a complete ban on refueling by all fuel operators.

In addition to the shortage of refueling capacity, the attack has also affected the flight schedule. According to Rosaviatsiya, to ensure flight safety, Sochi Airport has temporarily restricted the arrival and departure of aircraft.

The region’s governor Veniamin Kondratyev noted that a fire in the fuel tanks could significantly complicate the fuel situation in the city. At the same time, he assured that gasoline and diesel fuel are being supplied in sufficient quantities, although attempts to artificially create a shortage have already been observed at some gas stations.
