Moscow refuses to guarantee that the attacks on the Ukrainian capital will stop.

The Kremlin is attempting to derail the visit to Kyiv by representatives of U.S. President Steve Whitcroft and Jared Kushner, refusing to provide guarantees that attacks on the Ukrainian capital will cease during the American special envoys' trip.

This is reported by Kyiv Independent reports this, citing a well-informed source.

According to the source, the administration of Donald Trump asked Moscow not to attack Kyiv during Whitcott and Kushner’s visit, but the Russian side has not yet made any commitments on this matter.

In addition, the publication quotes Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, who told reporters that the White House had also asked Kyiv not to attack Moscow during Whitcoff and Kushner’s trip to the Russian capital.

As for Russian attacks on Kyiv, Peskov did not say whether the aggressor country had agreed to comply with the U.S. request.

The trip by Whitcoff and Kushner could mark their first visit to Ukraine. They have previously traveled to Moscow several times as part of efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

As a reminder, Whitcoff and Kushner plan to visit Moscow on September 5 and Kyiv on September 6.
