Zelenskyy: Ukraine Is Prepared To Refrain From Striking Moscow

The U.S. side has already begun working with Russian representatives on this issue.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is prepared to refrain from striking Moscow through the end of Saturday, as well as on Sunday and Monday, provided that Russia does not strike Kyiv.

Zelenskyy made this announcement on Saturday, September 5, following a conversation with representatives of U.S. President Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner.

According to him, the U.S. side has already begun working with Russian representatives on this issue.

“As of this conversation, we are prepared to observe a ceasefire regarding airstrikes on cities involved in the negotiation process. From this moment until the end of the day on Saturday, as well as on Sunday and Monday, Ukraine is prepared to refrain from strikes on Moscow, and we expect the Russians to refrain from strikes on Kyiv,” the President of Ukraine stated.

Zelenskyy also reported on briefings by Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatoy regarding the situation on the front lines, threats in the airspace, and the actions of Ukrainian troops.

The president emphasized that Ukraine will continue its active diplomatic efforts. According to him, a plan of events in Kyiv involving the American team has already been approved.

Earlier, on September 5, following the arrival in Moscow of U.S. President’s Special Envoys Steve Whitcroft and Jared Kushner, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that dictator Vladimir Putin had ordered a three-day moratorium on strikes against Kyiv, effective at midnight on September 6.
