How much do porcini and chanterelle mushrooms cost?

Shoppers at the Komarovsky Market in Minsk have finally seen an “invasion” of porcini mushrooms. That said, this treat isn’t exactly cheap just yet.

The mushrooms are sold in large and small sizes, by weight or by the piece, as well as in buckets of various sizes. However, the price is roughly the same—50–100 rubles per kilogram, reports smartpress.by.

Shoppers look on with delight, asking sellers about the forests where the mushrooms were picked (“Minsk Region, don’t worry”), but few actually buy them.

Chanterelles are also available, and they’re quite affordable compared to porcini mushrooms: the “redheads” go for 10–15 rubles per kilogram.

Another pleasant surprise in Komarovka on the first weekend of September—the last of the summer berries at such a low price that, just a month ago when the entire market was flooded with them, you wouldn’t have even dreamed of.

We’re talking about plums and cherries at 5 rubles per kilogram and strawberries at 3.5–6 rubles per kilogram.

Blueberries and raspberries haven’t gotten any cheaper—they’re 13–25 rubles per kilogram—but lingonberries have dropped in price over the past week. They are mainly sold for 8 rubles per kilogram, though it’s possible to find them cheaper.

Beautiful sea buckthorn berries still on the branch are priced at 20 rubles per kilogram.

Among vegetables, sales of tomatoes and sweet peppers remain at their peak. Tomatoes are selling very cheaply—starting at 1.5 rubles per kilogram; peppers are slightly more expensive, with thick-walled varieties averaging 5 rubles per kilogram. They’re perfect for preserving.
