Overnight, Ukrainian drones once again attacked the Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia — a fire broke out there following the strike. Explosions were also heard in Rostov, where air defense systems were activated.

What is known about the attack

Overnight, Ukrainian drones struck the Rostov and Ryazan regions. Local residents reported hearing explosions. Following the attack, according to monitoring channels, a fire broke out at the Ryazan Oil Refinery, and air defense systems were activated in Rostov.

The governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, confirmed the fire.

“Debris caused a fire at one of the facilities; preliminarily, there are no casualties. Emergency services are on the scene,” Malkov noted.

What Is Known About the Refinery

The Ryazan Oil Refinery is one of the largest in Russia. It can process about 17 million metric tons of crude oil annually. The refinery produces automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products, including those for the Russian Armed Forces.

As a reminder, the Ryazan Oil Refinery is regularly targeted by Ukrainian drones. In late July, the Defense Forces struck this facility—at that time a refinery and a Wildberries marketplace warehouse caught fire in Ryazan, and the regional governor confirmed the fires in industrial areas.
