The Ukrainian Military Destroyed A Rare "Zhitiel" Electronic Warfare System Deep Behind Enemy Lines

A key aspect of “demilitarizing” the enemy army remains the reduction of the occupiers’ capabilities in the field of electronic warfare. The destruction of every Russian electronic warfare system makes it easier for the Defense Forces to defeat Russian targets.
Recently, the Russians lost a rare piece of such equipment—the R-330Zh “Zhitiel” automated jamming station—in the area of the temporarily occupied city of Severodonetsk in the Luhansk region. It was destroyed by pilots from the National Guard’s Lasar’s Group.
Lasar’s Group reported the destruction of a rare Russian “Zhitiel” electronic warfare system deep behind enemy lines in the Luhansk region.
“The fewer electronic warfare assets the Russians have, the more freedom our drones have on the front lines. That is why electronic warfare systems are on ‘Lasar’s’ list of priority targets,” the unit explained.
The “Zhitiel” was taken out back in the summer.
“In the middle of summer, we tracked down a rare beast—the R-330Zh ‘Zhitiel’ automated jamming station. This equipment was mainly used against reconnaissance drones to prevent the Ukrainian Defense Forces from monitoring the Severodonetsk area,” the statement reads.
Lasar’s Group fighters carried out the operation to destroy the detected system entirely on their own.
First, intelligence analysts, working together with the unit’s aerial reconnaissance crews, pinpointed the exact location of the R-330Zh “Zhitiel.”
“Following that, an operation was quickly planned using our domestically produced LASAR bombers. The “Lasar” strike crews took to the skies, covered a distance of 55 kilometers deep into enemy territory, and destroyed the target. “The ‘Zhitiel’ will no longer be able to interfere with Ukrainian drones,” noted Lasar’s Group.
The R-330Zh “Zhitiel” is an automated jamming station developed by JSC NPP “Protek.”
The R-330Zh jamming station was adopted by the Russian Armed Forces in 2008. Its use in the Donbas region has been documented since 2015.
