The Attack On The Ryazan Oil Refinery Put More Than 77% Of The Plant's Capacity Out Of Commission

Ukrainian drones struck the largest crude oil refining units at the Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia.

According to the company, it has been confirmed that FP-1 drones struck the distillation columns of the ELOU-AVT-6 unit—the largest primary oil refining unit at the refinery, with a capacity of 8.5 million metric tons per year.

It has also been confirmed that equipment at the AVT-3 unit, with a capacity of 3.1 million metric tons per year, was struck.

In total, the damaged units account for more than 77% of the Ryazan Refinery’s total crude oil primary processing capacity.

As a reminder, these units were hit during a nighttime drone attack, which has already been reported. At that time, a fire broke out on the grounds of the Ryazan Oil Refinery, and explosions were also heard in Rostov. The region’s governor Pavel Malkov confirmed the fire at one of the facilities.

The Ryazan Oil Refinery is one of the largest in Russia, processing about 17 million metric tons of crude oil annually.

It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products, including those for the Russian Armed Forces. The plant is regularly targeted by Ukrainian drones: as recently as late July, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck it, causing fires at the refinery and a Wildberries warehouse in Ryazan.
