A resident of Tyumen, Russia natalya_ph_natalya described the behavior of her compatriots in Belarus.

“I’m Russian,” she writes. “I’m planning to emigrate to Belarus. I have a good friend from Minsk who is Belarusian. She tells me some terrible things about how Russian emigrants behave.

Russians throw trash out of their car windows right onto the road, are rude to store clerks because they can’t pay with a Russian card, and some even say that Belarus is just a backwater of Russia.

How do you think people in Belarus will treat you if you behave so disgustingly? You’ve come to visit—act like guests, not like pigs!”

The author of the post was supported by both Belarusians and many Russians. The website Charter97.org cites some comments:

— It’s very upsetting that our compatriots are behaving this way.

— I would deport them from the country for something like this, with no right to return—not even for tourism.

— Russians are like that everywhere. I’ve been living in the U.S. for 31 years now, and they’re the same here. What else can Russians be like when their president is a thug who gets away with so much?

— Yes, Russians behave appallingly almost everywhere abroad.
