The Balkan country has opened the final round of negotiations.

The chair of the Socialist Party faction in the Albanian Parliament , Taulant Balla , stated that the parliamentary majority’s goal is to conclude EU accession negotiations by 2027, and to become a full member by 2030.

This was reported by “European Truth”.

According to the faction leader, the goal is to have the negotiations concluded by next Christmas and for ratification by the parliaments of the 27 member states to take place during 2028.

“We must conclude accession negotiations by next Christmas, ensure ratification by the 27 member states’ parliaments by 2028, and raise our national red-and-black flag in the very heart of Brussels by 2030. We must move forward with electoral reform; this requires the efforts of all political forces. The opposition’s role is indispensable,” says Balla.

It is worth noting that the Socialist Party is the ruling party in Albania, led by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

As a reminder, in November, Albania and the EU opened the final chapter in the negotiations on the Balkan country’s accession to the European Union. And on July 14, 2026, Albania provisionally closed the first negotiation chapters for the first time, covering science and research, education and culture, as well as foreign relations.
