The people were persecuted.

More than 200 people were persecuted during a massive raid by law-enforcers on relatives of political prisoners, the Viasna human rights center reports.

After the searches, people were taken in for interrogation and then released under a non-disclosure agreement. However, not all of them were released — criminal cases were opened against some of them under Article 361−1 (Participation in an extremist formation) and Article 361−4 (Promotion of extremist activities). Some were convicted under administrative charges.

It is important to note that a massive raid on former political prisoners and relatives of current ones began on January 23. People were interrogated and detained.

The law-enforcers were interested in those who received food assistance from the INeedHelpBY initiative. They took information about the recipients of such assistance from the E-delivery service, which belongs to Euroopt. However, not only those whom INeedHelpBY helped were detained.
