Lukashenka Promotes Odious Judge Kuchuk

Lukashenka appointed Dzina Kuchuk as judge of the Supreme Court.

Aliaksei Tsiatsiukhin was relieved of his post due to his resignation. Judges Andrei Yafremau and Aliaksandr Pautau were appointed to the presidium.

Kuchuk has several high-profile political cases on her record. She sentenced Sviatlana Bychkouskaya, an employee of the “one window” system, to five and a half years in prison for leaking ChKB data, sentenced scientist Yury Adamau to three years for “financing extremist activities”, gave 10 years to political scientists Valeryja Kasciuhova and Tatsiana Kuzina, and passed a verdict in absentia in the case of attacks on the Belarusian embassy in London.
