There was an event on board.
On April 10, a Ka-27 military helicopter fell on the territory of Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia. It is noted that before the fall there was heard an explosion. This was reported by the speaker of the Ukrainian naval forces Dmytro Pletenchuk during the briefing.
"We can only state the fact that this helicopter fell. Also there was information that this crash was preceded by an explosion. That is, most likely, it fell not only for purely technical reasons, apparently, there was some event on board," said Pletenchuk.
According to the speaker, the fall of the helicopter occurred in the morning. After that, the Russian military launched a rescue operation that involved other helicopters and a Raptor boat.
At this point, it is likely that the rescue operation has been completed. There is no reliable information on possible casualties.
The representative of the AFU Navy added that the use of aviation for patrols is one of the tactics of the new leadership of the Russian Federation's Black Sea Fleet.
"The incident that happened today may correlate with this, because the fleet is quite old, the operation is quite intensive, even BE-12 aircraft were brought back into service.... Others were already going for decommissioning, in order to patrol the coastal zone. Therefore, such cases as today may become more frequent," he said.
