The President of Ukraine threatened Russia with retaliation for the attacks on bridges in Kyiv.
Ukraine will respond to attacks by the aggressor country, the Russian Federation, on bridges and other infrastructure, focusing on Russian military logistics. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement on October 4 during a press conference in Kyiv, according to a correspondent for the publication “Gordon”.
According to the Ukrainian president, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have their own plans and operations, the priority of which is to destroy the enemy’s military logistics, particularly weapons supply routes and drone hubs.
Zelenskyy expressed outrage that the Russians are openly attacking Ukrainian bridges, data centers, and mobile communication facilities. In his view, the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin is deliberately provoking Ukraine into retaliatory actions to further escalate the conflict.
“I think, to be honest, that he [Putin] has decided that if he strikes at the internet, data centers, and mobile communications—knowing my principled stance—he understands that we will respond. It’s just a matter of time,” the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, Putin may even be interested in leaving Russians without internet access.
“I think he’s counting on not having the internet himself, to be honest, because he wants... He’s already a fish. He wants to be completely in an aquarium so that people don’t have the internet,” said the head of state.
The president emphasized that Ukraine will find a way out of the situation, even if Russia destroys Ukrainian bridges. At the same time, he warned that Russians themselves could feel the consequences of such an escalation.
“If our bridges collapse, we’ll find a way out of this situation, but his people will feel it too,” Zelenskyy said.
In his view, Putin is trying to escalate the war as much as possible because he is not facing sufficient international pressure. Zelenskyy believes that the United States, in particular, should increase this pressure, since Putin fears the American leader Donald Trump.
