"The Balance Of Power Has Changed Dramatically"

A military expert assessed the situation on the front lines and the occupiers' plans near Dobropillya.

The elimination of the Russian bridgehead on the Liman sector of the front in the Donetsk region has removed a serious threat to the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ logistics hubs.

At the same time, the situation in the Dobropillia sector remains tense due to the occupiers’ attempts to break through to the administrative borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region. This was reported on the television channel FREEДOM today, October 5, by Ukrainian military and political analyst Dmitry Snegirev.

According to him, the Ukrainian military’s successful operations in the Lyman sector have radically altered the balance of power in that area.

“The rout of Russian forces in the Lyman sector has eliminated the threat of Lyman and Svyatogorsk being captured. Svyatogorsk is the largest logistics hub for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. It is no coincidence that the Russian dictator spoke of gaining full control over this city. Control over Svyatogorsk would have allowed the Russians to organize an operational encirclement of the Ukrainian force in the Liman area. This would have had a serious impact on the future course of hostilities on the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk front,” Snegirev emphasized.

The analyst noted problems in the Dobropillya area, where enemy tactical advances and the infiltration of small assault groups have been observed.

“The occupiers’ strategic objective is to reach the administrative borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region and then advance further toward Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. In other words, this is an attempt to outflank the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.” “Given the strategic importance of Dobropillya, it is no coincidence that additional operational reserves have been deployed to this sector,” he explained.

According to the spokesperson, the Ukrainian military is effectively leveraging its advantage in unmanned aerial vehicles (“low-altitude air power”) to contain the enemy and thwart attempts to concentrate forces for assaults.

“The situation is difficult, but it is under control,” Snegirev stated.

He also added that statements by the Russian side regarding the alleged critical advance of Russian troops toward Slavyansk do not correspond to reality.

“Despite all the occupiers’ efforts—and they are attacking the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk group from virtually all sides—the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces remain virtually unchanged. The distance to Slavyansk is about 14–16 km. This indicates that the Russian dictator’s claims that Russian forces are making significant tactical gains and are only one and a half to four kilometers from Slavyansk are completely untrue,” the military-political analyst concluded.
