The Ukrainian Armed Forces Are Working To Strengthen Ukraine's Positions

  • 5.10.2026, 16:31

An expert on the conditions for negotiations and Russia's exhaustion.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are carrying out their missions so that, at any negotiating table, they can dictate their own terms rather than agree to the enemy’s demands.

This was stated on “Channel 24” by Ukrainian servicemember and military analyst Oleksandr Musienko.

Ukraine’s main conditions for peace talks

The Ukrainian army is focused on establishing a strong position for the state so that, in future negotiations, it can demand that Ukrainian interests be taken into account. Alexander Musienko emphasized that the key objective of the Ukrainian resistance is to inflict such losses on the enemy that it will be forced to make concessions.

According to Musienko, Ukraine’s main priority conditions at this time are: achieving a ceasefire, an energy truce, and security in the Black Sea. At the same time, the aggressor country is deliberately stalling and postponing any consultations in an attempt to improve its own position.

“The war continues because we do not agree with what the enemy is imposing on us, and we are formulating our own points—essentially for the negotiation process—and our own conditions. This is where our efforts are focused today, and we have, so to speak, achieved certain successes in this regard, which we plan to build upon in the future,” the military official emphasized.

He noted that the scale and nature of Russia’s concessions will depend directly on Ukraine’s ability to exert sustained pressure and wear down the enemy, as well as on the resilience of Ukrainians during the enemy’s terrorist attacks.

“As of today, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are focusing precisely on the fact that this level of losses and damage to Russia, as a state, will ultimately lead to its strategic defeat. This may take time. We understand that it is not that simple.” The enemy fighting against us is quite strong, and it is demonstrating a willingness to continue this war,” concluded Oleksandr Musienko.

How is Ukraine strengthening its positions?

Record enemy casualties: the daily losses of the Russian occupiers have remained consistently at a critically high level (1,500–1,900 people daily), and the total losses of the enemy army since the start of the full-scale war have exceeded 1.5 million people.

Strikes against the Russian military-industrial complex and rear areas: Long-range drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regularly strike ammunition depots, oil refineries, airfields, and logistics hubs deep within Russia’s rear, reducing the occupiers’ offensive capabilities.

Expansion of domestic weapons production: in 2026, more than 1,600 new models of weapons and equipment were standardized, over 90% of which were manufactured in Ukraine (in particular, new models of strike UAVs, electronic warfare systems, and robotic systems).

Security in the Black Sea: Thanks to long-range strikes and the deployment of maritime drones, the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet remains confined to its bases, allowing Ukraine to maintain control of the maritime trade corridor.
