For the first time, citizens of our country will hold senior officer positions.
A new Belarusian unit has joined the Ukrainian Navy—the “Volya” special unmanned aerial vehicle squadron. For the first time, citizens of our country will hold the senior officer positions. This was reported to "Zerkalo" by the acting commander of the special unit, Nikita Zabuga. The information was confirmed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The “Volya” special unit is part of the 447th Separate Battalion of the Ukrainian Navy. According to Nikita Zabuga (call sign Axon), the focus is on working with strike drones, as well as air defense systems.
“We are building an elite unit specializing in deep-strike and medium-range strikes, as well as air defense. Here, soldiers acquire the skills needed for modern warfare, which is primarily based on the use of automated combat systems.” “Today, this is a war of drones, missiles, and artillery,” noted the commander of the special company.
According to Zabuga, all leadership positions (officer and noncommissioned officer ranks) in the special company will be held by Belarusians. He emphasizes that this practice did not exist previously in the Belarusian units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Belarusians did not hold officer positions. This fact was also confirmed by the Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yaroslav Chornogor.
“The Ukrainian Navy has embarked on this experiment. I hope the Belarusians will be able to take advantage of the opportunities provided. Ukraine is giving you wings,” the Ukrainian diplomat noted.
Nikita Zabuga did not disclose the exact number of personnel in the new unit. However, he noted that recruitment is ongoing and the company has already begun carrying out its tasks. Zabuga adds that candidates for the special unit undergo a rigorous selection process.
“Volunteers can expect polygraph tests, psychological evaluations, and stress resistance assessments. “We’re not looking for just anyone—we’re looking for our own people, those who understand that freedom doesn’t come on its own and must be fought for,” concluded the acting commander of “Vola.”
