New details of the strike on Perm Krai and Irkutsk.

In the town of Gubakha in Russia's Perm region, drones struck a major chemical plant, Metafrax Chemicals. In Irkutsk, meanwhile, a fire broke out at the Irgiredmet research center.

The Metafrax Chemicals chemical plant is among some of the largest producers of methanol and other chemicals in Russia, the Telegram channel "STERNENKO" reported on May 23. Importantly, the distance from the Ukrainian border to this plant is more than 1,600 kilometers, which is a significant indicator of the range of the attack.

"The plant produces substances that are used in the production of explosives and weapons components," "STERNENKO" stated.

The company, in particular, produces urea, a chemical used to create ammonium-nitrate mixtures such as ANFO. Such mixtures are used in industry as explosives, and could potentially be a component for the production of mines or artillery ammunition.

Although Metafrax Chemicals does not officially declare cooperation with the Russian defense industry, its parent company Roskhim is considered a key supplier of chemical products to a number of Russian military enterprises, Militarny reported.

A parallel fire broke out at a research center in Irkutsk This Russian scientific institution specializes in the development and implementation of technologies related to the extraction and processing of gold, rare and precious metals and diamonds.
