The United States and Iran have agreed to establish a special “line of communication.” It will ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The mediators during talks in Switzerland—Qatar and Pakistan. The new communication channel is intended to help prevent incidents and misunderstandings at sea.
According to the memorandum, the safe passage of merchant ships is guaranteed for 60 days. During this time, Iran has pledged to do everything possible to ensure that ships can pass freely, safely, and without charge from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and back.
CNN notes that the Strait of Hormuz has been one of Tehran’s main levers of influence throughout the negotiation process.
As early as June 20, the Iranian military command threatened to completely block this vital sea lane. In this way, Iran sought to respond to Israel’s strikes on Lebanon and Washington’s alleged failure to comply with the terms of the ceasefire.
