This G7 summit was “positive for Ukraine.”

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided details of his talks with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, which, according to the Ukrainian leader, turned out to be “very positive” for Ukraine.

In an interview with TV host TSN Alla Mazur, that his meeting with Trump initially took place on the sidelines of the summit with French President Emmanuel Macron in attendance.

“Emmanuel met me; we waited for President Trump in a separate room, greeted each other, and exchanged some important thoughts. It was quite brief. Then we went to the G7 meeting and joined everyone else,” Zelenskyy said.
Subsequently, talks with Trump continued.

“After the G7, we stayed behind with the President of the United States and Senator [Marco] Rubio to discuss all our additional issues. They covered many topics: from the renewal of sanctions to air defense licenses. This time, it became quite public—that the American team reacted positively to the licenses for the first time,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the president, everyone now agrees that Ukraine possesses all the technical capabilities to manufacture missiles for the Patriot systems.

“This requires licenses from the United States. Right now, we need Trump’s personal approval,” the president noted.

In response to the host’s remark that Trump, following his visit to France, stated that he plans to ask American defense companies to manufacture missiles for air defense systems under licenses in Europe and Ukraine—that is, there is a clearly stated intention— Zelenskyy noted that “Emmanuel was very helpful.”

Another conversation also took place between Zelenskyy, Trump, and Macron.

“They [Trump and Macron] flew to Versailles after the G7 summit, while I flew to Brussels. Emmanuel, Donald, and I also had a phone call that night. The three of us discussed all the issues that had been raised at the G7 summit,” Zelenskyy clarified.

He added that there is still “one separate issue,” but he did not provide any details yet, because first and foremost, “we need a positive solution.”

Zelenskyy noted that the conversation lasted about forty minutes and concluded that this G7 summit was “positive for Ukraine.”
