A Real "Fever": Belarusians Have Launched A Hunt For The Elusive Potato Chips

People are looking for places where there might still be packs left, and they suspect the store employees.
It seems the return of Lay’s with white mushrooms to stores has caused quite a stir. How else can you explain the dozens of posts appearing on Threads: people are looking for where there are still packs left, sharing store addresses with each other, and even suspecting that chain store employees aren’t rushing to put the product on the shelves, writes “Onliner”.
Lay’s potato chips with white mushrooms had already made it onto our list of products that have disappeared—at the time, the media received dozens of comments along the lines of “Bring them back immediately!” And this summer, that flavor reappeared in Russia. Usually, after that, it makes its way to Belarusian stores—and that’s exactly what happened this time.
However, finding that coveted bag turned out to be a quest in itself. At first, they could be ordered on online marketplaces (prices reached up to 70 rubles for three packs), and then retail chains began announcing their arrival.
Because the chips were so hard to find, some people had already started to doubt whether they had actually been delivered to stores or if their existence was just a joke. Others suspected that retailers were allegedly hoarding the bags for themselves.
These chips were first spotted at “Euroopt.” They’re now also available at “Kopeechka,” “Groshik,” “7 Pyatnits,” and “Sosedy.” They may eventually be stocked at other chains as well. Currently, a 105-gram bag costs between 4 and 5 rubles.
One of the questions being hotly debated on Threads is: Is this really the same flavor from childhood, or have they changed the recipe?
