During massive attack by the aggressor country, the Russian Federation, on the night of Thursday, August 20, one of the enemy missiles was destroyed by machine-gun fire.

This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, which published photos of the missile’s debris.

According to reports, a mobile fire group in the Kyiv region shot down the cruise missile, which was heading toward the capital.

It fell outside populated areas. In the photo, in particular, a huge crater can be seen.

As reported by the Ukrainian Air Force, Ukrainian air defense forces were able to shoot down 39 out of 44 cruise missiles during a massive Russian attack on the night of Thursday, August 20.

Russia’s massive attack on August 20—key points

On the night of August 20, Russia launched a massive strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, using dozens of ballistic missiles, attack drones, and Kalibr cruise missiles.

Numerous explosions rocked Kyiv: 14 people were killed and more than 40 were injured; fires broke out in the capital and the Kyiv region.

As reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, as of 8:00 a.m.:

In the Darnytskyi district, non-residential buildings and warehouses were damaged.

In the Svyatoshynskyi district, a building on the grounds of a non-residential development was destroyed. Warehouses in the district were also on fire.

In the Solomensk district, where at least seven people were killed, the upper floors of a 9-story residential building were destroyed and a fire broke out; the fire has already been extinguished. Near this building, windows were damaged in four residential buildings. At another location, a four-story building caught fire (on the upper floors) as a result of falling debris. Also in the Solomensky district, a school and a children’s hospital building were damaged. Windows were shattered at the medical facility, and cars were burning on the grounds; the fire has been extinguished. In addition, garages were damaged.

In the Brovary District of the Kyiv Region, one person was killed and seven were injured.

Furthermore, in the Odesa region, Russia attacked a border crossing with Moldova using drones, and in the Chernihiv region, it targeted gas infrastructure.
