What Do The New Pentagon Files On UFOs Hide?

These new publications simply continue a long-standing trend.

A new release of Pentagon documents on unidentified flying objects has once again drawn the attention of proponents of the theory that UFOs are of extraterrestrial origin. However, the declassified documents contain no evidence of the existence of aliens or extraterrestrial technology, writes National Review.

The fifth installment of the published collection includes 41 files, 12 video recordings, 22 documents, and three images. The materials describe sightings by military personnel, pilots, and intelligence officers, as well as unusual signals recorded by various sensors.

“One of the most notable cases was an incident in the Gulf of Oman in 2021,” the authors write. The crew of a U.S. AC-130 opened fire on small, fast-moving objects that, according to observations, managed to evade being hit. However, such phenomena can be explained by drones, balloons, birds, signal flares, or the characteristics of the optics.
Another incident occurred in February 2024 in Ukraine. A reconnaissance drone detected an object resembling a giant disk. “The unusual dimensions could have been the result of an error in distance estimation,” experts believe.

In another instance, a U.S. intelligence official reported seeing a “huge number of orange spheres” moving alongside military aircraft. However, the lack of photographs and other independent data makes it impossible to confirm the unusual nature of the sighting.

The U.S. Department of Defense emphasized that the published materials do not allow for determining the origin of the objects. Furthermore, they contain no debris, biological samples, recordings, or other physical evidence of extraterrestrial technology.

“Unidentified” in military terms simply means a lack of data to determine the object’s origin—it is by no means proof of its extraterrestrial nature.

The new publications merely continue a long-standing trend: mysterious sightings are recorded regularly, but there is still no convincing evidence of contact with an extraterrestrial civilization. “It’s all just hype—there are no aliens,” the publication concludes.
