A massive fire has been raging for three days now.
A major wildfire has been raging in the Yalta mountains for the third day in a row.
Satellite images published by the “Crimean Wind” monitoring group show the scale of the blaze. The most likely cause of the fire was the ineffective performance of Russian air defense units, according to Dialog.UA.
The fire broke out on August 19 in a remote mountainous area.
According to Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, by the morning of August 20, the fire had spread over 10 hectares. A total of 469 people and 103 pieces of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fire.
Russian emergency services are working under difficult conditions: some personnel are reaching the fire sites on foot carrying backpack fire extinguishers, and water is being delivered by motorcycle.
Monitoring sources link the outbreak of the fire to the operation of Russian air defense systems during a drone attack.
