The destroyed equipment had been helping the occupiers extend the range of their drones.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of key targets belonging to the Russian occupiers. Specifically, these included drone storage and launch sites, command posts, a warehouse, and other targets, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The strikes took place on August 20 and during the night of August 21. Ukrainian troops successfully struck:
- a facility for storing, preparing, and launching attack drones near the city of Donetsk;
- a warehouse containing the occupiers’ logistical supplies in the settlement of Novoselske in the temporarily occupied Crimea;
- two command posts—in Zaporizhzhia (Donetsk Oblast) and Kobylne (Zaporizhzhia Oblast).
Separately, units of the defense forces destroyed six ground-based relay stations that the Russians were using to control “Geran”/“Gerbera”-type attack drones in Crimea. Specifically, two were destroyed in Steregushche, three in the Olenivka area, and one in Chornomorsk.
As explained by the General Staff, such ground-based repeaters facilitate the transmission of control and communication signals between the operator and the drone, allowing the enemy to extend the range and operational reliability of the drones.
“Operations against key enemy military targets are continuing. To be continued,” the statement reads.
