A few days ago, the Kremlin leader opened the tomb of an ancient Russian ruler.
On August 21, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga reacted ironically to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s intention to hand over to Russian troops on the front lines a portion of the relics of the Moscow prince Dmitry Donskoy.
“It’s unlikely that this will help end the war. But if Putin were to take his place, it might work,” Sibiga wrote on social media platform X, accompanying the post with a screenshot of the news story about the transfer of the relics.
The day before, Russian media reported that Putin visited the Archangel Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin, where he inspected a sarcophagus containing the remains of Dmitry Donskoy that had recently been discovered near the southern wall. According to published reports, the Russian president attended a prayer service and approved the transfer of part of the relic to the combat zone.
Reports also noted that the Kremlin is using religious symbolism and historical artifacts as part of its propaganda campaign supporting the war against Ukraine.
