Other scenarios are also being considered.

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has not yet decided whether he will run in the presidential election or in what capacity. This was reported by “Ukrainska Pravda”, citing sources close to him.

The publication’s sources claim that Fedorov has not yet given a clear answer regarding a possible candidacy, but he has not ruled out that possibility. According to them, he intends to make a final decision closer to the election.

At the same time, other scenarios are being considered. Fedorov may endorse a specific candidate or political party, or he may decide not to participate in the election campaign at all and focus on his work in the private sector.

Fedorov served as defense minister for about half a year—from January to July 2026.

Following his resignation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had offered the former minister several options to continue working in the public sector, including the position of Deputy Prime Minister. However, Fedorov declined and announced his intention to return to his previous job.

Following Fedorov’s departure, the Ministry of Defense was headed by Yevhen Khmara, who had previously served as acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
