Iran Is Changing Its Military Doctrine

Tehran announced a shift from a defensive to an offensive defense doctrine.
Iran's military doctrine has shifted from defensive to offensive. This was stated by Iranian Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammed Akraminia, according to Donya-e Eqtesad.
According to him, these changes have become apparent during recent conflicts with the U.S. and Israel. As Akraminia noted, Iran has begun to respond more quickly to attacks and to launch more extensive retaliatory strikes.
“The country’s military doctrine is shifting from defensive to offensive,” the general noted.
He emphasized that the offensive nature of the doctrine does not necessarily mean conducting preemptive operations. At the same time, Akraminia stated that during the most recent clash, Iran struck an American base in Jordan even before the enemy launched its attack.
According to the army spokesperson, Iran’s new approach entails an immediate response to any aggressive action against the country. At the same time, as Akraminia noted, the response could be “more extensive than the attack itself.”
