"Russia Is In For Months Of Trouble"

Ukraine has set off a domino effect.

The head of the Center for Russian Studies, diplomat, and former Ukrainian foreign minister Volodymyr Ogryzko believes that the situation is catastrophic for Putin. He expressed this opinion in an interview “Glavred”:

— If Ukraine continues what it is doing now, Russia won’t last another year. It won’t be able to enter 2027 with even a minimal budget. In Russia, expenditures and revenues are no longer balanced, and it cannot function according to the old models. Unless, of course, they just make up some numbers—which has never been a problem in Russia. But that doesn’t mean the economy can be managed that way—it has its own objective laws, and it doesn’t obey Putin.

That’s why Russia doesn’t have years—it has months. The only thing that can save Russia for a while is an immediate end to the war on any terms.

There is a growing understanding around the world that Russia has become the last “prison of nations.” And after this war, people with national or regional interests will begin to consider a different form of organization. If Putin’s regime collapses quickly, no other regime will be able to replicate what is happening now. And then the constituent entities of the Russian Federation will have the opportunity to think about their own destiny and their own future.

It would take just one republic to declare its secession from the Russian Federation for a domino effect to sweep across Russia within a matter of weeks.
