Lamborghini Listened To Its Customers

The company is in no hurry to jump on the electric car bandwagon.
Lamborghini has revised the concept for its future Lanzador GT following customer feedback. Instead of a fully electric powertrain, the production version of the model will feature a plug-in hybrid, according to Motor1.
The Lanzador concept debuted in 2023 and was conceived as Lamborghini’s first all-electric vehicle. However, company CEO Stephan Winkelmann stated that customers responded positively to the decision to move away from a pure electric vehicle.
“We decided to change the Lanzador from a fully electric car to a plug-in hybrid, and customers have accepted this very well. They are very satisfied,” said Winkelmann.
Lamborghini openly acknowledges that interest in electric vehicles among affluent buyers has been extremely low. Winkelmann previously stated that demand for an electric Lamborghini was “nearly zero” and called electric vehicles an overly expensive experiment.
The exact specifications of the production Lanzador have not yet been disclosed. One option could be a hybrid system based on a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Lamborghini already uses similar technology: for example, the Urus SE produces 800 l. s. and 1,000 Nm.
The switch to a hybrid system will allow Lamborghini to retain the internal combustion engine while complying with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. The Lanzador will be the brand’s fourth model with a plug-in hybrid system, following the Urus, Temerario, and Revuelto.
For Lamborghini, this decision is particularly significant: the company chose to preserve the character of its internal combustion engine vehicles, heeding the wishes of its core audience.
