A Woman From Minsk Bit A Taxi Driver, Stole His Car, And Crashed Into Two Other Vehicles

It all happened at night in a courtyard on Petra Mstislavtsa Street.
In Minsk, a woman attempted to steal a taxi while the driver was charging it in the courtyard. She then bit the driver and dragged him several meters along the ground. Later, the Minsk resident said she had taken antidepressants and consumed alcohol beforehand, but does not remember the incident itself. This was reported by the news agency “Minsk-Novosti” citing the prosecutor’s office of the capital’s Pervomaisky District.
It all happened at night in a courtyard on Petra Mstislavtsa Street. A taxi driver was charging his BYD electric car when an intoxicated woman approached him. She pushed the man away, got behind the wheel, and started the car.
The driver tried to stop her and pull her out of the car, but the Minsk woman bit his hand, put the car in reverse, and drove off. The taxi driver was dragged several meters along the ground.
The woman from Minsk didn’t get very far—she crashed into two parked cars. At that moment, the driver managed to grab the keys and lock the car. Meanwhile, the woman managed to rip out the dashcam installed in the car.
All of this took place in front of local residents, who called the police. The woman was detained, and a criminal case was subsequently filed against her.
In court, the Minsk resident explained that she had taken antidepressants the day before and then consumed alcohol. She said she does not remember what happened after that—she came to her senses only at the Pervomaisky District Police Department. Nevertheless, she pleaded guilty and compensated for the damage caused. In addition, she paid the taxi driver 15,000 rubles as compensation for emotional distress.
The court found the woman guilty of carjacking involving violence that did not endanger life or health. She was sentenced to two years of restricted freedom without placement in an open-type correctional facility—so-called “house arrest.”
